Beihai White Pagoda

Beihai White Pagoda has become one landmark building in Beihai Park. And the Beihai Beihai White PagodaPark also attracts many guests in Gehua New Century. Many guests in Gehua New Century must go to the park to have a visit. The pagoda was a Tibetan style Lama pagoda in 1651 Shunzhi period in Qing dynasty. According to the stone tablet, there was western Lama wanted to spread Buddha to build a pagoda so that there built the Yongan Temple and White Pagoda. The pagoda is 35.9 meters height. It is round in top and square in bottom. The pagoda is Xumishanzuo style architecture and there is cover and proof decorated with moon, sun and flame decoration patterns which mean the Buddha like moon and sun will radiate brilliant light. On the front side of the pagoda, there is a dun shape niche and there mould Tibetan language pattern with red base and yellow letters which mean good luck and happiness. This niche is named Yanguangmen also named Shilunjingangmen. The pagoda was damaged by the earthquake in 1679 and be rebuilt in the next year. In 1976, the pagoda roof was destroyed in the earthquake. When it was rebuilt, there found a box with Taiji picture and two Buddhist relics. So the White Pagoda is a Buddhist relic pagoda.
